How to avoid road closures and get to King Edward Park conveniently and safely.

Friday, 5 January, 2018.

We’re thrilled to host the Newcastle Cinema Under the Stars event in King Edward Park once again on Saturday, 13th of January. The event is a summer favourite and attracts a large audience.

For the convenience of cinema goers, there will be a FREE shuttle bus service leaving from King Street (East) Carpark (in front of Mall Parking Station). This service will run from 4pm until 11.59pm on the day of the event and will make drop offs and pick-ups at King Edward Park.

To manage crowds, some road closures and safety measures will be in place that we’d like you to be aware of.

Please note, there will be road closure points around the event precinct including:

  • Watt Street at Church Street to Reserve Road
  • Ordnance Street at Newcomen, Baker and Wolfe Street
  • Reserve Road to Bingle Street at High Street
  • Cliff Street at High Street
  • Memorial and Parkway Avenue
  • Kitchener Parade
  • The Terrace

The road closures will be in place from 3pm Saturday, 13th January, and all roads will re-open at 11.30pm. Only residents will have vehicle access during the road closure period.

Newcastle Cinema Under the Stars is a FREE and family-friendly event. Pack your picnic blanket, gather your friends and settle in for the open-air screening of the animated blockbuster SING!

The event kicks off at 5.30pm with a fantastic line-up of exciting entertainment and activities before the movie screens at sundown.

We hope to see you there!
