A New Year message from our CEO

Hello everyone,

I would like to wish all of our customers and their families a happy and safe New Year from all of us here at Newcastle Permanent.

Last year tested and proved our community’s resilience, while creating opportunities for growth in many areas. We can all be proud of how we pulled together, and I believe we can look forward with new confidence in our ability to adapt and to grow in the future.

In our organisation, we’re making big plans for the year ahead. With the energy and commitment of our people, we will keep moving towards our vision of becoming Australia’s favourite banking experience.

During 2020, we improved our Customer Contact Centre in a number of exciting ways, including a fast and easy-to-use webchat service, and there’s more coming in the near future. Watch this space!

You will also see enhancements to our home loans, as a result of your feedback. Our new Interest Only home loans provide more flexibility to manage loan repayments and maximise the benefit of offset accounts. Customers who are buying a new home while selling an existing property now also have access to a Bridging Loan (subject to credit approval), to make that transition easier.

This year will also see the expansion of Open Banking, designed to give customers more control of their information, leading to more choice in their banking and more convenience in managing their money. 

We are also very excited to be introducing a new mobile banking app in 2021, which will enable us to offer Apple Pay and Google Pay in the future. Keep your eye on our website for further announcements.

You may have noticed a difference in our marketing and communications. Our refreshed brand celebrates our pride in the local identity that we share with our customers: smart, positive, and active, matching the spirit of our local communities.

And finally, to celebrate summer and to keep you cool at the beach or in your backyard, we have launched an Instagram competition, with a chance to win a beach umbrella in our new colours. I hope you’ll participate and I look forward to seeing what summer means to you.

Our own teams are out and about this summer, wearing our bright new brand colours on Community Days: beach clean-ups and supporting organisations like LandCare, Meals on Wheels, OZHarvest and The Salvation Army. In December alone, our people dedicated over 1000 hours of community leave to help local charities.
