Cinema Under the Stars has now wrapped after 12 jam-packed outdoor events.

Tuesday, 24 March 2020

The 13th season of Newcastle Permanent’s Cinema Under the Stars has now wrapped after 12 jam-packed outdoor events throughout regional New South Wales.

The free family-friendly program attracted over 22,000 people in parks as far north as Ballina and as far west as Dubbo, for an evening full of entertainment.

There was something for all ages with talented musicians and a wide range of activities for the kids to enjoy before the screening of a blockbuster film in the great outdoors.

Our popcorn van and local food vendors were high in demand with over 9,000 popcorn bags claimed throughout the season and a wide variety of movie snacks and meal options available.

The little kids were kept busy exploring the endless fun on offer. Each event hosted free circus workshops by Circus in Education, a football kicking target by Northern NSW Football and epic dance competitions by our local and travelling musicians.

Our community mascot, Herbie, was also a huge hit and saw kids of all ages line up for countless hi-fives, hugs and selfies.

Once the sun went down, the crowd settled in and the big screen lit up for the much anticipated blockbuster film.

This season saw a variety of films featured including new release remakes of The Lion King, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast and Toy Story 4 right through to the holiday classic, Home Alone which delighted all ages.

We want to say a huge thank everyone who supported our 13th season of Cinema Under the Stars. We hope you had as much fun as we did and we can’t wait to visit a town near you again soon! Be sure to stay tuned on our website or follow us on Facebook for the latest news.
