Which account will be debited when I use my Visa Debit card?

Your Visa Debit card can access both your transaction account and your linked savings account. The account debited when making a purchase or withdrawing cash will depend on how the transaction is made and processed.

Within Australia, if you insert your card, you can choose:
Cheque or Credit to debit your primary account; or
Savings to debit your linked secondary account;

If you tap your card or use Apple Pay or Google Pay™, the account debited will depend on how the merchant chooses how the contactless payment is processed.

Please note, using Credit for cash withdrawals may attract additional fees. If you want to choose which account is used, insert your card and select Cheque or Savings at the terminal.
