Protect yourself against fraud and stay safe with these security tips

It’s so important to safeguard your finances and prevent your financial information from falling into the wrong hands.

Scammers know all the tricks! Whether it’s by phone, email, SMS, online or social media, scammers are constantly looking for opportunities to exploit for financial gain. So it’s important to keep on top of your online security and know what to look out for.

Here are some security tips for you to follow:

  • Keep your computer secure – update your firewall, anti-virus and anti-spyware software regularly. Ensure you buy your software from a verified source
  • It may seem obvious, but never disclose your PIN or access code – we will also never send you an email requesting personal details such as your PIN or access code
  • Always keep a lookout for the sender address - we send emails from DoNotReply@communications.newcastlepermanent.com.au & DoNotReply@marketing.newcastlepermanent.com.au. If you receive a Newcastle Permanent email from an address different to these then it may be fraudulent. If you are wanting to verify the legitimacy of an email from us, simply call us to check
  • If you have any concerns about the legitimacy of a website or purchase that you intend to make, do some research and check reviews. If you are still unsure, contact us before you go ahead with the transaction
  • Monitor your accounts for unauthorised transactions - and we will too! From time to time, we may contact you to verify purchases made on your account. However, it is important for you to be on the lookout for transactions that you don’t recognise
