Shedding Community Workshop Inc. is a charitable organisation creating an inclusive space for the Mullumbimby community to connect, learn, and build confidence through hands-on skills.
Largely volunteer-run, Shedding delivers a range of workshops and events designed to support diverse community needs. These include UPSKILL, an introductory program covering hand and power tools alongside wellbeing practices; CONSTRUCT, for more advanced tool education; and SPACEMAKERS, focused on practical skills for community-building projects.
They also host a weekly Repair Café every Saturday morning, encouraging repair, reuse, and shared learning.

Shedding places wellbeing and inclusivity at the heart of everything they do, creating a safe and supportive environment for people to learn, connect, and grow.
Driven by a deep care for their ‘Shedders’ and the environment, they use reclaimed and recycled materials to deliver hands-on, sustainable learning experiences. Through this, tools have become a pathway to self-empowerment, resilience, and stronger community connection.

Our partnership will support the Shedding Community Workshop Inc. to grow its impact by strengthening internal capacity and diversifying revenue streams. Funding will enable key roles to deliver and expand their programs, ensuring the Northern Rivers community and its visitors can continue to access practical, sustainable skills that foster self-efficacy, a sense of purpose, and resilience.
These skills are essential in addressing the complex challenges facing rural and regional communities, including environmental disasters, housing affordability, and mental health. Shedding will also create a sustainable leader exchange network to share their experience and values-led approach with other regional communities, with a focus on disaster-affected areas.
