Our partnership with Habitat for Humanity Australia

Habitat for Humanity Australia is part of an international not-for-profit organisation that delivers practical housing solutions for people experiencing housing stress and disadvantage.

They work alongside communities to build, repair, refurbish, and maintain homes, improving the supply and quality of housing across Australia while supporting housing shelter initiatives throughout the Asia-Pacific. Their work is delivered in collaboration with volunteers, community partners, industry and government to achieve tangible, on-the-ground outcomes.

Habitat for Humanity Australia exists to bring people together to create safe, stable, and climate-resilient housing as a foundation for better lives.

Their purpose is driven by the understanding that secure housing enables health, education, employment, and social connection, while promoting gender equality and strengthening families and communities.

By addressing housing insecurity and expanding opportunity, Habitat Australia is committed to long-term, sustainable change for people and communities facing disadvantage.

Our partnership is helping expand Habitat for Humanity’s Habitat Women program into the Hunter and Central Coast. This initiative will strengthen housing outcomes and create real economic opportunities for women facing disadvantage by supporting 48 women with training, wraparound services, and paid, hands-on work experience in construction and maintenance.

Supported by Newcastle Permanent Charitable Foundation, the program improves crisis, transitional and social housing while removing barriers to employment. It delivers tangible benefits for tenants, builds workforce capability, and creates meaningful volunteering opportunities—driving lasting social impact across the region.

"This program’s given us more than just construction skills. It’s given many of us a sense of purpose, a sense of direction, and the feeling that we’re finally moving towards something fulfilling."
