Tender Funerals receives boost from Newcastle Permanent Charitable Foundation

Tender Funerals is expanding their impact on the Mid North Coast thanks to a $70,000 funding boost from Newcastle Permanent Charitable Foundation.

Focusing on socially disadvantaged individuals and marginalised groups, the Wauchope-based not-for-profit offers choice and transparency in delivering personalised, meaningful and affordable funerals as well as community education and empowerment around after death care.

Part of the $70,000 donation has been used to support a Project and Outreach Lead to build awareness and engage volunteers to deliver funerals and bereavement support services via pop-up offices across the region.

The funding has also allowed Tender Funerals to develop a training program for their volunteers to help in providing significant community capacity building and connection, as well as compassionate and high-quality funeral services to the community.

Tender Funerals General Manager Samuel Clowes said the contribution will help their organisation make an everlasting impact.

"Tender Funerals empowers members of the community in an inclusive manner and recognises their right to participate in the funeral process. On average, each family that utilises Tender Funeral services saves an average of $6,000 per funeral," Samuel said.

"It is estimated that this funding will impact almost 500 people in just one year, particularly in Kempsey and Taree, which will be significant for our local community.

"Thank you to Newcastle Permanent Charitable Foundation for their contribution and ongoing support."

NPCF spokesperson Paul Juergens said the organisation offers care and support to people who are going through one of the hardest times in their life.

"Tender Funerals is an integral part of the local community and we are pleased to support them through our shared commitment to social wellbeing," Paul said.

"This funding will help Tender Funerals to address the lack of access to affordable and meaningful funerals in regional and remote areas, particularly across the Mid North Coast region."

While this grant is driving lasting change, our Port Macquarie branch teams were also honoured to lend a hand, joining Hastings Enviro Rotary to help build a peaceful micro garden at Tender’s Wauchope site last month.
