Few things make a young person smile quite like a surprise gift under a Christmas tree. With this in mind, Newcastle Permanent staff will enthusiastically support The Salvation Army’s 'I Believe in Christmas' Toy Appeal again in 2017.
All branches will act as collection points again this year, as The Salvos set about collecting 500,000 donated gifts to distribute to families in need.
Newcastle Permanent CEO Terry Millett said the organisation’s staff and customers always made a generous contribution to the annual appeal.
"Each year we ask those who have the means to help make Christmas a happy and exciting time for kids and young people who might otherwise miss out on a gift due to tough circumstances in their households," Mr Millett said.
"By adding an extra gift to our shopping lists this Christmas, we can all help make the festive season a little brighter for families who might be struggling a bit."
Mr Millett said new and unwrapped, donated gifts could be dropped into any Newcastle Permanent branch from now until Wednesday the 20th of December. Gifts will be collected by The Salvation Army and redistributed to families before Christmas.
This year The Salvation Army is asking people to consider age appropriate gifts for children and teenagers when making their donations.
Gift ideas include new toys, clothing, books, sporting equipment, games, beauty products, fashion accessories and gift vouchers.
