Tamworth Ten’s golden start to running festival season

We are proud to once again sponsor the 10km Tamworth Ten event.

Nearly 700 running enthusiasts braved a frosty, but stunning, Tamworth morning to participate in the 2018 Tamworth Running Festival - Australia’s fourth oldest fun run.

People of all ages and abilities lined up in the half-marathon, 10km and 5km runs, and 4km walk which were heavily supported by the community.

By mid-morning, the sun shone brightly providing perfect running conditions – sunny, still, but just cool enough to prevent over-heating.

We are proud to once again sponsor the 10km event and have the Tamworth branch staff keeping participants well hydrated as they crossed the finish line throughout the morning.

The course provided a visual collision of climates – from the white frost on the green AFL oval at the start line, to running over the beautiful lake, before the stark contrast approximately half-way around the 10km course – dry and burnt out land brings you back to the confronting reality of what our country men and women are currently enduring.

After the main events had finished it was time for the presentations and we are proud to provide prizemoney by way of NPBS Savings Accounts, to winners and place-getters across all running categories, to help with home-owning goals, a new car or holiday, or maybe future running event entries!

To celebrate the end of the festival, the Dash 4 Cash saw children and adults take on a 100m sprint (though it’s a surprise so many still had the energy to run again!).

The Tamworth Running Festival demonstrates community solidarity, fun, fitness and health, creating a family-friendly, social atmosphere, and the Golden Guitar finishers’ medals were sure to have hit the right note with participants.

Congratulations to everyone who participated this year and thank you to the Tamworth Triathlon Club for managing such a successful event and making a donation to Buy a Bale, a charity helping farmers battling the crippling drought.

We are committed to supporting these community events and look forward to the next running festival on the calendar – Mudgee! If you haven’t registered, there’s still time.
