Record numbers at Port Macquarie Running Festival

More than 2,000 enthusiastic fun-runners enjoyed cool conditions in Port Macquarie.

Monday, 19 March, 2018.

A record number of runners lined up in the 2018 Port Macquarie Running Festival on Sunday 11 March 2018.

The Port Macquarie Running Festival featured four flagship events; Rydges 21.1km Half Marathon, Athletes Foot 10km Run, Port Patios 5km fun run and the day’s toughest event – the Treble Breakwall Buster which sees competitors tackle all three races to clock up 36.1km.

Also featuring on the day were the Newcastle Permanent Kids Fun Run and the 4km Walk and Talk events.

The event attracted two of Australia’s top five long-distance runners, Matthew Cox and Jack Colreavy, who took out the half marathon and Treble Breakwall Buster respectively.

Congratulations to the hundreds of kids and their parents who participated in the Newcastle Permanent Kids Fun Run – we hope the mums and dads weren’t too upset with the kids beating them over the line!

The event is now in its 7th year and it continues to grow each year. We’re proud to support a number of family friendly running events that help promote a healthy and active lifestyle to the local communities in which we serve.

Start warming up and keep an eye on our website for all upcoming running festivals supported by Newcastle Permanent across regional NSW.
