Tuesday 11 October, 2016.
Spring had truly sprung as hundreds of excited children and parents ventured to Richley Reserve to get hands on with nature at the last Newcastle Permanent Junior Ranger Fun Day for 2016.
Held on Wednesday 28 September, the theme for the day was Rapt in Reptiles. It was a chance for everyone to get up close with the critters that call Blackbutt Reserve home including spotted and olive pythons, an eastern blue tongued skink and shingleback skink.
There was also plenty of craft and hands on activities where children could make their own stick insect and colour in a diamond python.
The Newcastle Permanent Junior Ranger Program provides free interactive and educational fun days each school holidays.
Thank you to all the staff and volunteers at Blackbutt Reserve on hosting such a wondering day and we look forward to being back again in 2017.
