Avon Race for Research
Launched in 1996, the Avon Race for Research is a fundraising event of the Breast Cancer Institute of Australia.
Newcastle Permanent is a sponsor of the 5km fun run/walk that takes in the Newcastle Foreshore. Participants range from the serious athletes through to beginners and families.
It is a fun day for the entire community and gives individuals the chance to become actively involved in increasing the awareness of breast cancer and raising funds for breast cancer research.
This year the event was held on Sunday 25 October 2009, at Newcastle Foreshore. The event attracted more than 3,000 participants, making it the largest not-for-profit fun run in the Newcastle and Hunter Region and raised raised $78,000 to support research for the prevention and cure of breast cancer.

Ballina Rivafest
Ballina Rivafest is a true community event celebrating life in and around the Richmond River. The event brings together thousands of local residents with visitors from throughout the Northern Rivers and beyond. Rivafest was held on Saturday 28 November and Sunday 29 November 2009 in Fawcett Park. Features of Rivafest include live entertainment and music on the main stage, children's entertainment and creative workshops, activities on the water, displays, fireworks, local food and wine and roving entertainers.

Blue Water Country Music Festival
Port Stephens is the home of the Blue Water Country Music Festival. This year's festival will be held on 11-14 June 2010 with headline act Adam Harvey as well as a premier line-up of established Country Music artists. Newcastle Permanent is proud present Warren H. Williams and a range of local performers including the Seaside Singers at the Port Stephens Christian Outreach Centre June 12 2010.

Carols by Candlelight
Carols by Candlelight is a great Christmas tradition.
Newcastle Permanent is the major sponsor of three major community carols events in Lake Macquarie, Central Coast and Lismore.
The Lake Macquarie event, held on Sunday 13th December 2009 at Speers Point Park, has been sponsored by Newcastle Permanent for more than 21 years. This event attracts more than 20,000 people and each year features high profile and local performers.
The Lismore event, was also held on Sunday 13 December at Riverside Park. Featuring Melinda Schnieder plus performances by local school choirs and musicians.
Co-sponsored by 2GO, the Central Coast carols event was held on Tuesday 22nd December 2009 at Central Coast Stadium and raises money for the charity Give Me Five for Kids. This is a ticketed event. Tickets can be purchased from a number of Central Coast outlets, including all Newcastle Permanent branches.

Cinema under the Stars
This year we took our popular Cinema under the Stars programme on the road to enable more of our members to enjoy the experience. We had a fantastic response in all locations. We are now busily planing our 2010 series so stay tuned for more information.

Coffs Harbour Open Air Cinema
Newcastle Permanent is a proud supporter of the Coffs Harbour Open Air Cinema. In 2009/10 screenings were held at Woolgoolga Beach Reserve and in its usual spot at the Coffs Harbour Jetty Foreshore.

Combined Schools ANZAC Day Concert
Each year more than 1,500 students commemorate the anniversary of the landing at Gallipoli at a special Newcastle Combined Schools ANZAC Day Service at Newcastle's Civic Theatre.
Talented students from local schools contribute to the service, where stories of local ANZAC heroes are told.
The event is co-coordinated by the Combined Schools Committee comprising representatives from: Newcastle City Council; Newcastle District Council of RSL Sub-Branches; Department of Veterans Affairs; students and teachers from State and Catholic Education systems; and other non-government schools.
Newcastle Permanent is a proud supporter of the event and the concept of commemorating the enormous sacrifice made by our service men and women.

Get Active Armidale Week
An initiative of the Armidale Sports Council, Newcastle Permanent Get Active Armidale Week enables participants to try various sport, fitness and recreational activities without committing to a season or paying registration fees.
Get Active Armidale Week was held from 20 April to 24 April, with the aim of bringing sport and recreation into the lives of people and encouraging them to be active in the long-term. Activities included netball, rugby league, soccer and martial arts just to name a few.
Expressions of interest forms are available from Newcastle Permanent in Armidale, Armidale Dumaresq Council office, Sportspower and The Armidale Express office.

Hastings Moonlight Movies
Newcastle Permanent was proud to be the presenting sponsor of Hastings Moonlight Movies in January 2010. Screenings were held in Bain Park, Wauchope and beside the Hastings River on Port Macquarie’s Town Green.

Inspirations 2010
Newcastle Permanent is pleased to announce we are once again a Co-Principal sponsor of the Newcastle Civic Theatre's Inspirations 2010.
Now in its eighth year, the annual Inspirations subscription season continues to bring some of this country's most diverse line up of international, national and locally produced live performances to our region.

Music in the Podium
Newcastle Permanent is the proud sponsor of the hugely popular Music in the Podium concert series held from beginning of November to the end of March at Foreshore Park at Warners Bay. Every Friday night during daylight savings hundreds of residents and visitors enjoy a picnic with friends while listening to music from every genre. This free concert series is a highlight in the Lake Macquarie community.

Short Sharp Film Festival Coffs Harbour
Newcastle Permanent is proud to be a Silver Sponsor of the Short Sharp Film Festival in Coffs Harbour. The festival is the Coffs Coast’s premier competition for short film makers and aims to develop a screen culture and provide a creative stepping stone for film makers within the NSW Mid North Coast region.The 2010 festival has expanded into two events: “The Sharpies” on Saturday 3 July 2010 and “The Young Guns” on Sunday 4 July 2010.
