A Visa Debit card is available* with the following accounts:
Our Visa Debit card provides you with access to your funds 24 hours a day, 7 days a week via ATMs, EFTPOS, Internet and phone banking and wherever Visa is accepted. There is no joining fee, no annual fee and no Visa monthly accounts to pay.
You must remember that a Newcastle Permanent Visa Debit card is not a credit card so you will need to have sufficient cleared funds in your account to cover your spending.

Your card, your photo
Our MyDesign Card is a service that gives you the option to personalise your Newcastle Permanent Visa Debit card with your favourite image or photo for only $15. Find out more about MyDesign.
Making a purchase
After you have chosen the item you want to purchase, present your Newcastle Permanent Visa Debit card to the sales assistant. Select the 'credit' option and check the date, details of the purchase and the amount charged before you sign the receipt. It is also a good idea to check that all details can be easily read so you are able to verify the details later against your statement.
ATM and EFTPOS
The Visa Debit card can be used through an Australia wide network of ATMs and EFTPOS terminals, giving you access to your money day and night.
Wherever possible, try to use Newcastle Permanent ATMs for withdrawals and enquiries on your account. Your transaction fees may be higher if you use an ATM that is owned by another financial institution.
Visa Debit card payments
The Newcastle Permanent's Visa Debit card can be used for mail, Internet and phone purchase payments.
Cash advances
You can use your Visa Debit card to obtain cash at an ATM or over the counter of some associated financial institutions in Australia and overseas, where Visa is accepted. A cash advance fee is charged for this service. You need to have enough funds in your account to cover the cash advance.
Using your Visa Debit card overseas
Your Visa Debit card allows you to make purchases overseas, wherever Visa is accepted.
The Visa system does not allow you to make deposits into your account while overseas. However, you can transfer funds between your registered Newcastle Permanent accounts via Internet or phone banking.
Remember to check the expiry date on your card to make sure it remains valid for the entire period you are away.
Loss of card
Please report lost or stolen Newcastle Permanent Visa Debit cards immediately on 13 19 87. This service is open 24 hours.
