Pen or PIN
Currently when you use your Newcastle Permanent Value+ Credit Card or Visa Debit card to pay for something at a shop, you press 'credit' and then sign to accept the transaction.
From 4 June 2008, participating shops in Australia will be able to accept a Personal Identification Number (PIN) when you press 'credit', giving you an alternative. Of course, you can continue to sign as you've always done.
PIN - a quick, easy way to pay
When you're ready to pay for your goods using your Value+ Credit Card or Visa Debit card, checkout staff may ask if you would like to enter a PIN or sign for your purchase.
- Check the amount of the purchase is correct (as you would if you were signing).
- Press the 'CREDIT' key.
- Enter your PIN on the keypad. For your protection the numbers you enter for your PIN are not displayed on the screen and will appear as asterisks (****) instead.
- Press the 'OK/ENTER' key.
- The screen will show you if your transaction has been approved and you'll be given a receipt.
Remember
- If you already have a card with a PIN, your PIN will not change.
- If you do not wish to use a PIN, please continue to sign as you've always done.
