What is a MyDesign Card?
MyDesign Card is a fun way to personalise your Newcastle Permanent credit, debit or cash card with an image of your choice, subject to our image guidelines.
How do I create a MyDesign Card?
Simply visit our MyDesign Card page, where you can upload your favourite image or choose one from our image library.
Can anyone create a MyDesign Card?
Yes, simply follow the directions on our MyDesign Card page to create a MyDesign Card for one of your existing accounts, or for a new account.
What if I’m not a Newcastle Permanent member?
You don’t have to be a Newcastle Permanent member to apply for a Newcastle Permanent Credit, debit or cash card account. You can design your card and apply for a card account.
Can my additional cardholder(s) or joint account holder(s) create a Newcastle Permanent MyDesign Card?
Yes, your additional cardholder(s) or joint account holder(s) can create their own Newcastle Permanent MyDesign card. Please note: a fee applies for each MyDesign card ordered.
Do all cards on the account have the same image?
No, your additional cardholder(s) or joint account holder(s) may select their own design for their card, as long as they adhere to our image guidelines.
How much does it cost for a Newcastle Permanent MyDesign Card?
Each Newcastle Permanent MyDesign Card ordered is available for just $10.00. The fee will be debited to your card or account when your MyDesign Card is ordered.
Special offers may apply from time to time.
How long does my image last on a MyDesign Card?
Your image lasts for the life of your card. When your card is due to expire, you can order a new Newcastle Permanent MyDesign card.
How long will it take for a MyDesign Card to arrive?
Once your image and application have been received and approved, your card should be sent to you within ten business days.
What if I apply for a Newcastle Permanent MyDesign Card but my credit card application is declined – can I still get a MyDesign Card?
If your Newcastle Permanent Value Credit Card application is declined and you still want a MyDesign Card, you may still be able to open a debit or cash card account, as no credit application is necessary.
Just go to our MyDesign Card page design your MyDesign Card and then apply for a Newcastle Permanent debit or cash card account.
How often can I change the image on a MyDesign Card?
You can change the image on your MyDesign Card as often as you would like. Each time you request a new image on your card the regular $10 fee will apply.
What if my image is rejected?
An image cannot be accepted if it does not meet our Image Guidelines or if it is in breach of a third party’s copyright.
We will send you an email advising that your image has been rejected. You can try another image by clicking on a link in the email. You can either upload another image or choose one from our image library. You will not be charged an additional fee for submitting a new image.
Will my existing Newcastle Permanent card number or PIN change once I request a MyDesign Card?
Yes you will receive a new card number and PIN with your new MyDesign Card.
Will my existing Newcastle Permanent terms and conditions change?
No they will remain the same.
Will retailers accept my Newcastle Permanent MyDesign Card?
Yes. Your MyDesign Card works just like a regular Newcastle Permanent card. If a retailer doesn’t recognise it, just explain that it’s a Newcastle Permanent MyDesign Card.
What is the maximum provision for the member name on a MyDesign Card?
The maximum name on a MyDesign Card is 26 characters including title and spaces.

Choosing an image for your Newcastle Permanent MyDesign Card
What kind of image can I use for a Newcastle Permanent MyDesign Card?
You can use an image that has been saved in an electronic format (a ‘digital image’). The image must be at least 480 x 480 pixels and in the correct format. This includes an:
- image taken with a digital camera
- image taken with a mobile phone
- image scanned or received via email
- image stored on your computer, disc or CD-ROM
You must own the copyright of the image or have express permission from the copyright owner to use the image on your card.
What dimensions should my image be?
Your digital image should be at least 480 x 480 pixels. If your image is smaller than this it may not reproduce well on your MyDesign Card.
To check the dimensions of your image:
- Open your image in a browser (eg Internet Explorer)
- Right mouse click on your image
- Choose ‘Properties’. The Properties window will open
- The ‘Dimensions’ of your image will be shown under the ‘General’ tab

What image formats can I use for my Newcastle Permanent MyDesign Card?
Your image must be in one of these formats: JPEG (*.jpg, *.jpeg), Bitmap (*.bmp), GIF (*.gif) or TIFF (*.tiff).
What if I have a photo - not a digital image - that I want to use for my Newcastle Permanent MyDesign Card?
If you don’t have a digital copy of the image you want to use for your Newcastle Permanent MyDesign Card, you can scan a photo and save it to your computer or to disk.
Can I use a black and white image for my Newcastle Permanent MyDesign Card?
Yes, you can use black and white, single-colour or full-colour images for your MyDesign Card.
How big will the image on a Newcastle Permanent MyDesign Card be?
You can decide the size of the image on the MyDesign card. The image can measure up to a maximum size of 85mm x 55mm – the size of the card.

Editing your Newcastle Permanent MyDesign Card image
Can I edit my original image so that it looks better on my Newcastle Permanent MyDesign Card?
Yes, you can use the card design tools to scale, rotate, flip and move your image until you have the design you want.
The ‘scale’ bar lets you change the size of your image.
The ‘rotate’ tool lets you turn your image 90-degrees at a time.
The ‘flip’ tool lets you create a mirror image (left to right).
The ‘move’ tool helps you place the image exactly where you want it.
Can I improve the quality of my original image when I edit it?
No, the image on your MyDesign Card will be the same quality as your original image. If your original is blurred or grainy, the image will appear the same way on your MyDesign Card. For best results, choose a clear, sharply focused image.
Will editing the image for my Newcastle Permanent MyDesign Card change the original image saved on my computer?
No, when you upload your image to the Newcastle Permanent MyDesign Card website, you are editing a copy of the original image to place on your MyDesign Card.
The original image is stored on your computer and will not be modified.
Can I change my image if I’m not happy with it?
You will be provided with an online preview of your image before you order your MyDesign Card.
If you are not happy with the image when previewed, you can start again with the same image, use a new image of your own, or choose one from our image library.
If you want to change your image once you have submitted your application, the $10 card design fee will apply.

Technical questions about the Newcastle Permanent MyDesign Card
Do I need special software to design a Newcastle Permanent MyDesign Card?
You will need Flash player 6.0 (or above) to be able to edit your image. If you don't already have a Flash player, you can download it for free from Adobe.com.
What image formats can I use for a MyDesign Card?
Your image must be in one of these formats: JPEG (*.jpg, *.jpeg), Bitmap (*.bmp), GIF (*.gif) or TIFF (*.tiff).
How big can the image file I use for a MyDesign Card be?
We recommend that you use an image file that is between 300Kb and 3MB. Images that are smaller than 300Kb may look grainy when you enlarge them. The maximum file size accepted by the MyDesign Card website is 8MB.
How long will it take to upload my image?
The time it takes to upload your image will depend on your computer’s connection speed.
For a 1MB file, you can expect the following upload times:
