How do I apply for a new account with Newcastle Permanent Building Society?

How do I locate my account number on my card?
Your card has a 16 digit number on the front. If you take the first 6 numbers and the last number off, the numbers remaining form your 9 digit account number. Your account number can also be located on your latest statement. Alternatively, simply phone the Member Support Centre on 13 19 87.

How do I obtain a new PIN number if I have misplaced or lost it? 
Visit your local Newcastle Permanent Building Society branch or contact our Member Support Centre on 13 19 87 to arrange to complete a Statutory Declaration to have your card and PIN replaced. It can take up to 7-10 business days for the replacement to arrive.

What is the difference between my Balance and my Available Balance on my account?
The Balance is the balance held in your account. This amount includes uncleared funds such as cheques that have not been cleared. The Available Balance is what is available for withdrawal.

How long does a cheque take to clear?
It usually takes between 3-5 business days for a cheque to clear.

How do I cancel a Direct Debit?
If the Direct Debit was set up at one of our branches then we can cancel it. If it was set up by the debiting provider e.g. Heath Insurance, Council Rates, Electricity Bills then you will have to contact that provider directly.

How can I find my advance figure on my loans?
If you have Personal Internet Banking select the loan you are enquiring about from 'My Accounts'. This is viewable from here along with your minimum monthly repayment. Find out more or register for Internet Banking.
