Secure Internet banking is one of our ongoing priorities. That's why we've introduced VerifID, to make our Internet banking safer than ever.
What is VerifID and how does it protect me?
We call it VerifID: Verif - eye - dee.
VerifID is a convenient service available to Newcastle Permanent members using Internet banking and provides an additional layer of security for BPay and other third party payment transactions.
Traditionally, when you login to Internet banking you simply use your member number and access code. Today, a new multi-layered approach is available to provide an additional layer of security to help protect you against possible attempts at online fraud.
VerifID is an effective and convenient form of enhanced authentication which uses a telephone of your choice either home, work or mobile. At the time of making some third party payment transactions, you will receive an automated call which provides you with the VerifID code to complete your transaction. All you need to do is simply enter the VerifID code into the Internet banking screen to complete your transaction.
This additional layer of protection helps to prevent unauthorised payment transactions on your account. While it's a simple step, this extra layer of security provides greater peace of mind for your internet banking payment transactions.
Who needs VerifID?
VerifID is a free service available to all Newcastle Permanent members with Internet banking.
What do I need to do to use VerifID?
The first step is to register your Internet banking service for VerifID.
How does it work?

- Once registered to use VerifID, you login to Internet banking, using your member number and access code.
- Simply make your payment transactions as you would normally do.
- At the time of making some transactions a VerifID Internet banking screen will be displayed.
- On this screen you will be asked to select the home, work or mobile number you would prefer to be called on from your nominated list of numbers.
- Within seconds, you will receive an automated call from our VerifID service.
- You will be asked to confirm the payment transaction, by entering a digit into the keypad on your phone.
- VerifID will then provide you with a one use VerifID code to enter into your Internet banking screen to complete your payment.
It's a simple effective security measure, which offers you additional peace of mind.
Which transactions will be protected by VerifID?
VerifID provides added security for Pay Any One, BPAY® and Batch payments where funds are transferred out of your own accounts. VerifID constantly monitors Internet banking activity and will automatically request authentication for higher risk transactions.
To register
Simply drop into your local branch or call our Member Support Centre on 13 19 87 to register for VerifID. You simply need to nominate up to 3 phone numbers which VerifID can use to contact you on, and some personal identification information.
