Newcastle Regional Art Gallery
Children's ART NRG Program
Newcastle Regional Art Gallery aims to promote and enrich the cultural life of the community through the display of significant works of art and innovative public programs.
This initiative involves the re-establishment of the highly successful ART NRG program funded by the Foundation in 2005/06. This is an innovative and experiential-learning based program aimed at children 3-16 years of age.
The program involves free weekend workshops for children and parents. These workshops were attended by 200-300 young families each weekend in 2005/06. The activities under this program are designed specifically for children aged 3-16 years, and have been designed to stimulate access, knowledge and appreciation of the arts for the regions young people.
The program aims to:
-
Develop children's creative expression
-
Enhance children's appreciation and enjoyment of the arts and culture
-
Enhance children's access to and awareness of the arts and culture
-
Nurture children's creative skills and technical knowledge
Newcastle Permanent Charitable Foundation has entered a partnership with the Newcastle Regional Art Gallery to re-establish the Art NRG program. Funds will be provided to cover promotion costs, purchase art supplies and engage more volunteer staff to supervise the activities under this program.
