The Northcott Society
Respite Camps for Children with Disabilities
The Northcott Society was established in 1929 as the NSW Society for Crippled Children and has since grown to support over 4,000 individuals with disabilities and their families across NSW and the ACT.
The Northcott Society supports people with a wide range of disabilities including cerebral palsy, neuro-muscular disorders, limb deficiency and other lesser-known conditions. We aim to assist people with disabilities develop their skills and maximise their potential for independence in the community.
Funds are being provided to run a series of respite camps for children suffering serious physical disability from the Coffs Harbour area. Respite is an important way to maintain family stability and community cohesion and gives both children with disabilities and their carers important opportunities to meet new people and experience new places and environments.
The Foundations funds will be used to cover accommodation, transport and wages for nurses and other staff to run these camps.
