Community Drug Awareness Forums

Hunter Life Education is the leading provider of drug and health education programs to young people in the Hunter Region.  Their mission is to provide young people with the knowledge and skills to learn how to live a healthy life and realise their full potential.  Hunter Life Education have a educational centre at Edgeworth and run multiple mobile education units which visit local schools and community organisations.

Funds were sought to establish an annual program of community forums through our region which aim to raise awareness and address concerns regarding drug use and abuse.  The aim of these forums is to develop community driven strategies and actions to address these issues.  Forums will be held in main cities and isolated communities throughout the Hunter, Central Coast and Mid North Coast and involve local police, councils, schools, business, community organisations and other related bodies.

Funds provided by the Foundation will be used to enable these forums to be planned, volunteers trained, promoted and delivered.  Given the high level of community concern regarding the rising incidence of drug related crime and other social issues these forums are expected to be very well attended and supported.
