Camp for Children with High Medical Needs

The mission of Camp Breakaway is to enhance the lives of people with physical disabilities.  Camp Breakaway is located at San Remo on the Central Coast and hosts a range of camps for children, young people and adults suffering serious physical or mental disability. 

The camp funded by the Newcastle Permanent Charitable Foundation will provide a fun-filled camp where local children with high medical needs can relax and enjoy a seven day respite holiday, while all their needs related to their disability are taken care of.  The camp will be held in October 2007.  The camp will also provide much needed respite to carers (parents, grandparents, friends) who look after these children who have chronic medical conditions requiring very high caring attention.

The camps are run and staffed by experience health professionals trained in caring for the needs of these children.

The Foundations funds will be used to cover accommodation, food, transport and insurances for the camp.  If it anticipated that between 30-40 local children/families would be involved in the camp.
