Newcastle Permanent Charitable Foundation Beneficiary - November 2006  Mary Mac’s Place

Mary Mac’s Place Project

Mary Mac’s Place is a joint project of St John the Baptist Parish, Centacare Broken Bay and St Vincent de Paul Society which provides hot, nutritious meals (Monday – Friday) to homeless, low income and socio-economically disadvantaged families and individuals from the Peninsula area of the Central Coast. They also provide a referral and advocacy service for the disadvantaged with the aim of breaking the cycle of dependence.

In response to significant increase in demand the existing Mary Mac’s Place was no longer practical and a new larger space was required.

St John the Baptists Parish has committed to accommodating Mary Mac’s Place in the new Parish Community Hall at Woy Woy. This venue provides space for a more comprehensive kitchen and dining room capable of accommodating 50 clients at any one time.

To assist in this more the Foundation provided a significant grant to were sought to assist in the fit out the kitchen, dining room, disability shower and laundry facilities and an office for Mary Mac’s Project Officer.
