Newcastle Permanent Sponsorship Application Guidelines

Newcastle Permanent is committed to supporting the local communities wer serve through community and corporate sponsorship, to help us achieve our vision of being “The obvious alternative to traditional retail banks and as a mutual building society, contribute meaningfully to the communities we serve”. 


Please note: Not-For-Profit organisations seeking funding for local community projects are encouraged to visit the Newcastle Permanent Charitable Foundation website.  The Charitable Foundation provides grants to Not-For-Profit organisations with Deductible Gift Recipient status for community projects in the Hunter, Central Coast, New England, Northern Rivers and Mid North Coast.


Any event, initiative or cause we support must reinforce Newcastle Permanent's brand values and align with our sponsorship guidelines below.

Applicants should consider the following guidelines when submitting a sponsorship request to Newcastle Permanent.


General sponsorship guidelines:


Newcastle Permanent will only sponsor events, activities or programs that:

  • reflect our brand values;
  • support and strengthen the communities in which we operate;
  • are in the areas of Culture, Sport, Community, Education or Awards;
  • have financial services category exclusivity;
  • provide opportunities for Newcastle Permanent staff and member participation or benefit;
  • provide prominent brand exposure in media advertising and other promotional collateral wherever practical and possible. Where such exposure is not possible, an indication of other non-tangible benefits that would be available to Newcastle Permanent should be provided;
  • as a general rule, a minimum of three months lead time for sponsorships is provided for Newcastle Permanent's assessment; and
  • conduct audience research during and/or after the event, including sponsor questions. This is mandatory for major sponsorships over $20,000 per annum.


Newcastle Permanent will not consider sponsorship requests for any of the following:

  • organisations linked to contentious or divisive social issues;
  • political or  religious organisations;
  • organisations promoting anti-social activities such as gambling, alcohol, or drugs;
  • beauty pageants;
  • motor racing and other dangerous sporting events including boxing;
  • international events;
  • individual athletes/entertainers;
  • publications/books;
  • Newcastle Permanent staff or relatives/friends as individual or teams;

Geographic coverage


The Hunter (including Newcastle and Lake Macquarie), Central Coast (including Wyong and Gosford), Mid North Coast (including Taree, Forster, Port Macquarie and Coffs Harbour), New England (including Armidale and Tamworth) and the Northern Rivers (including Lismore and Ballina) are Newcastle Permanent's primary operating regions and proposed events or programs must include activity in at least one of these regions.  Events or initiatives that involve towns or communities in multiple regions will be given favourable consideration.


All sponsorship proposals must include the following:

  1. Key details of the event, program, project or opportunity (such as venue, dates, etc).  Is this a one-off or annual event or event or initiative?;
  2. Demographics of the attendees, audience or participants (such as age, place of residence, etc);
  3. Overview of your marketing plan, including planned and confirmed marketing activities, advertising schedules and proposed budget for advertising;
  4. Information on other sponsors that have committed to the event or project;
  5. A comprehensive list of benefits, including how they relate to Newcastle Permanent and its products and services;
  6. A timeline of the event preparation and execution, including important deadlines;
  7. Credentials of your company or organisation including background on key individuals involved in the event or project;
  8. A statement of whether your organisation has an existing relationship with Newcastle Permanent or if there is an opportunity for us to gain your business; and
  9. Is there any hospitality, entertainment or general involvement for our members;
  10. Amount of funding you are seeking; and
  11. Details of any appropriate insurances and permits required.

Evaluation Process:

  1. All requests are reviewed by the Sponsorship Manager to assess suitability, feasibility and resources required. The Sponsorship Manager may contact you for additional information or clarification
  2. Recommended proposals are presented to Newcastle Permanent's Sponsorship Committee on a fortnightly basis;  
  3. Applicants will be notified of the Committee's decision within one week following the decision.
