Muswellbrook PCYC - November 2008

The Activity Club

The Police and Community Youth Club (PCYC) is a state-wide partnership between the community and NSW Police, working to assist young people to develop qualities of responsible citizens and leaders to avoid becoming offenders or victims of crime.

The PCYC has 55 clubs throughout rural, regional and metropolitan NSW supported by over 100 Police Officers, 350 staff and over 1500 volunteers. Police from the PCYC work closely with the Local Area Command receiving referrals for young people that offend in a specific area.

The Activity Club aims to provide local disadvantaged youth (5-18 years) with the chance to attend free activities that help them learn new skills, help develop their confidence and give them a chance to interact with other children in a safe environment. For some children this is the only opportunity they get to be creative and spend time away from the problems at home.

Funds were sought to cover all equipment and product expenses associated with this project.
