Hope Bears Charity - November 2008
Gifts of Hope
Hope Bears Charity uses the skills of volunteers to produce ‘Gifts of Hope’ (e.g. teddy bears and hand puppets, beanies, scarfs and blankets), and much more for children with cancer staying at John Hunter Children’s Hospital (JHH) and Ronald McDonald House (RMH).
Hope Bears Charity was established in Woolgoolga in 2001 and is run solely by volunteers and is largely self-funded. While the Hope Bears Charity receives donations of wool and various other supplies, it is mostly funded by the volunteers themselves.
Funds were sought to purchase materials, e.g. wool, ribbons and colouring in/story books to enable this charity to continue providing gifts of hope to children with cancer staying at the John Hunter Children’s Hospital and Ronald McDonald Houses in Newcastle and Tamworth.
