Ballina State Emergency Service - August 2008
New Road Crash Rescue Vehicle
Ballina State Emergency Service (SES) is a voluntary Unit whose core responsibility is flood and storm damage. The unit is also responsible for road crash rescue, off road rescue at farms, beaches and forests, industrial accidents, and Ballina/Byron gateway airport emergencies.
The unit responds to about 80 serious road accidents per annum, many involving heavy vehicles, and tragically many resulting in fatalities or serious injury. The Unit continues to be one of the busiest rescue units in NSW.
Our funds will contribute to the purchase of a new Road Crash Rescue Vehicle for Ballina SES. The current vehicle has seen 20 years service and is now in urgent need of replacement as serious mechanical problems have resulted in break downs and repair costs are mounting.
The new vehicle will enable immediate and timely response to emergency situations, e.g. serious motor vehicle accidents/entrapments, flood/storm damage, industrial and rural accidents, airport emergencies.
